On my flight from Perth to London, I had the most beautiful conversation with young parents bringing their newborn baby girl home—after 12 years of being estranged from their parents.
As we spoke, I could feel the mix of excitement, nerves, and deep longing in their hearts.
They were hoping for a fresh start, a chance to reconnect, to heal old wounds.
And in that moment, it hit me—how different would their journey have been if they had always felt heard?

Too often, we silence children without realising the long-term impact.
“Children should be seen and not heard”—what a dangerous belief!
When we dismiss their voices, we teach them they don’t matter.
But when we listen, engage, and value their thoughts, we raise adults who know their worth and can express love without fear.
This couple is now choosing a different path for their daughter—one where she’ll grow up knowing that her voice matters.
What about you?
Have you ever felt unheard of as a child?
Or are you breaking the cycle with your children?
