Let’s talk about something simple but powerful — bucket fillers and bucket tippers.
Imagine we’re all walking around with an invisible bucket.
That bucket holds our emotional energy — our joy, our patience, our hope.
A bucket filler is anyone who adds to that bucket.
🪣 They listen without rushing.
🪣 They speak kindly.
🪣 They notice you.
🪣 They leave you feeling a little lighter than before.
A bucket tipper, on the other hand, drains the bucket, through:
👎🏻 Criticism
👎🏻 Sarcasm
👎🏻 Silence
👎🏻 Control
And here’s the thing — most bucket tippers aren’t bad people… they’re just carrying an empty bucket themselves.
What’s really powerful is this:
🙋🏻♀️ When you fill someone else’s bucket, your own gets filled too.
🙅🏻♂️ And when we keep tipping others’ buckets, we slowly empty our own.
So today, just pause and ask — 🤔
In my home, my relationships, my workplace…
Am I filling buckets, or tipping them?
We don’t have to be perfect.
Just a little more aware.
🫠 Because sometimes one kind word is enough to change someone’s whole day.
