Do you have nightmares or think about the traumatic event when you do not want to?
Do you go out of your way to avoid situations that remind you of the event?
Have you been constantly on guard or easily startled?
Have you felt numb or detached from people, activities, or your surroundings?
Have you felt unable to stop blaming yourself for the event and the problems it caused?
If you happen to answer “yes” to all those questions above, then you may be suffering from a condition called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Sadly, 70% of adults experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. About 8 million people have PTSD each year; 1 in 13 people will develop PTSD at some point in their life, and 20% of people who have experienced a traumatic event will develop the mental illness. It is a strong response to experiencing trauma that is more common in women than men. These guidelines are based upon those provided by The Recovery Village, which is available on the web (Click the link below to view).
The good news is,
You can defeat it!
You can overcome it!
You do not have to live with it any longer!
You do not have to let it ruin your life!
You can master it!
You can move on from it!
And another good news is, you are not alone.
Let me share with you a short glimpse of how I dusted off myself from the lingering effects of trauma that caused me to develop PTSD.
As I turned 40, I realized if I wanted to take charge of my life, I’d have to change. I had to be my own hero. That meant understanding and knowing my dementors and changing who I was inside.
In the startling and disconnected world of PTSD where everything outward is a struggle; the only way out is in. I started talking to my emotions that’s always been projected on the wall, and by heightening the grasp of my senses, I broke free.
Can you believe it?
I resolve to be the master of my life, not a victim.
Wicked!
Inner success is something so profound, so precious. It’s the thing you really want. It’s the rarest thing in the world. It’s the most beautiful place to stay.
When we get to the point where enough is enough, it’s time to act. The faster we take action, the faster we can move on.
The obstacle is the way. We have to go through it, not around it. The way through it is to trust in yourself and to take the first step and the next and the next and then the next.
Learn to stop, say no, and let go. Stop carrying your dementors with you wherever you go because your present life is already loaded enough. You don’t need those wraithlike dark creatures of the past tagging along for the ride.
Just imagine what it will be like to wake up every morning and know you hold the “master key” to a healthy, abundant, joyful life. You will glow with warm light because you finally found the right mindset to achieve your limitless potential.
