Today, after visiting Egyptās sacred monasteries, Iāve been reflecting on what monasticism truly teaches ā and how it speaks to all of us, not just monks.
Here are 5 lessons that deeply moved me:
1ļøā£ Simplicity is strength.
What would your life feel like if you let go of whatās no longer essential?
2ļøā£ Silence is a teacher.
When was the last time you listened ā not to the world, but to your own soul?
3ļøā£ Work is prayer.
Whatever your vocation ā parenting, healing, teaching, creating ā do you see it as sacred service?
4ļøā£ Community matters.
Even hermits return to share what theyāve found in solitude. Who are the souls that keep you grounded?
5ļøā£ Contemplation is remembering.
Itās the art of slowing down enough to see God in everything.
Monastic life may look far away from modern
living, but in truth, itās a mirror ā asking us:
š How devoted are we to what truly matters?
š What is our daily life praying for?
Take a moment today to sit in stillness.
You donāt need a monastery to live contemplatively ā just an open heart.
