Haven’t you known it yet?

You are the product of your own curiosity and determination.
I was observing and listening to myself as I talk with Jo Hickman, she’s the very beautiful reason why I am currently holidaying (while of course working) here in New Zealand.
And from the last 4 days of non-stop talking (Jo claims that I talk non-stop), I have concluded that most of life’s lessons don’t arrive like a lightning bolt of absolute clarity.
They are slow-burning reflections that can only be observed well after the fact.
Decision making, like the capability to accept change, is not a skill we were born with.
It takes experience and readiness to step into the unknown, to embrace the uncertain, knowing that there are no guarantees.
We are so driven to change paths, open or walk around closed doors, and stand against the system for many reasons, but no reason is more powerful than the motivation of personal experience or first-hand knowledge.

I have always been motivated by the desire to explore anything that captures my interest.
To explore means I would spend the whole day in my own imagination bubble thinking and investigating about the effects of elements to matter or matter to elements.
Just like in washing clothes, I would investigate how water leaves its effect the on soiled fabric, I would experiment of the effects of laundry soap to the viscosity and clarity of the water, and I would hypothesise on the impact of both water and soap could make on my hands.
While my family refers to me as a “dreamer”, “weird”, “koko”, I see curiosity as a tool of learning that can benefit not just myself but of course, the servants that I have been supervising (my mum has commissioned me as the “Mayordoma” or the butler).
I see curiosity and determination as a tool of progress, the ultimate game changer - if only more people had access to the knowing of it and understand the concrete and effective steps in making chores easier and fun.
I have thought to call this tool of progress as “CHANGE”.
Growing up, I have explored how people respond to these tools of progress which I have developed through my experimentation.
Whether people are aware or not, change does not just happen.
It is a process that is organic, fluid, and responsive.
How people react to change defines how they feel, what they wanted, and what have they desired for.
Because change is merely action and a signal of something new.
Now, observing myself talk with Jo, made me hear myself reframing my mindset, shifting comfort zones, articulating that naming our fears is ok.
The fear of the unknown.
The unknown reality is brought in by technology, new practices, or even a change in direction.
I have seen such fear of the unknown disappearing and leaving the air - replaced with curiosity and determination.
The fear to recreate routine, to readjust, and to spark innovation have been replaced with courage, excellence, equity, and joy.
Core values that allows Jo and myself, to leapfrog into the future.
I am so excited to be back home to Sydney soon, very very soon.
Happy Monday everyone!
